NI tips LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite for power monitoring
SAN FRANCISCO—National Instruments Corp. Wednesday (May 23) announced the LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite, a new toolkit specific to the power industry that enables engineers to combine an NI CompactRIO system for power measurement with more than 50 signal and sensor modules, according to the company.NI's LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite features power analysis for graphical system design and ready-to-run example programs that integrate power analysis functions, NI (Austin, Texas) said. The suite also offers full, streaming access to raw, time-based waveform data to enable engineers to implement diagnostic algorithms that may be unique to a local power service, NI said.
"In the rapidly changing landscape of electrical power, traditional measurement hardware either offers limited functionality or requires a level of system design expertise that just isn't practical to keep pace," said Owen Golden, vice president of NI's energy segment, in a statement. "The LabVIEW Electrical Power Suite and CompactRIO help engineers effectively monitor and meet today's challenges with a fully programmable, modular, field-upgradable set of tools – which our customers see as a significant advantage."
Also Tuesday, NI announced it would collaborate with TU-Dresden, a technical university based in Dresden, Germany—on the exploration of new technologies for 5G wireless systems using NI LabVIEW system design software.
