Comparing one laptop to another can be a very difficult task, especially if both laptops provide seemingly similar specifications. Most people though would take huge consideration to the price of the product, and if you re looking for a laptop that can provide adequate performance for everyday regular use, without the heavy burden on the wallet, then the Medion Akoya E5211 would be just right for you.
Medion is fast becoming a household name for providing quality filled laptops and netbooks for affordable prices. When one thinks about cheaper costs, it would be easy to assume that something about the product would be amiss, or would be given low quality, not with the Medion E5211. On paper, you will immediately see that this simple yet elegant 15.4 inch laptop is filled with specs that are good enough for a regular desktop and yet is in a laptop way below the price range of other laptops in its class.
While it may not be the best out there, it certainly shouldn t be expected for the price it comes in. Performance wise, the Medion E5211 doesn t disappoint. It s very easy to set up and its full keyboard makes it very easy to use. In fact, even during use with multiple applications, the Medion was surprisingly fast and can adequately perform tasks without hanging or crashing down.
The case of the Medion E5211 looks elegantly simple. It s not framed with tacky looking stickers and lights and just gives out a natural feel for comfortable usage. It is also very slim and virtually lightweight given that it is a full laptop, weighing 2.6 kilograms and measuring 3.1 cm in height, 4.4 cm in width, and 25.5 cm in depth. This makes it a good companion for trips and for everyday use either for school or business.
The Medion E5211 even has a 15.4 TFT widescreen with a maximum resolution of 1280x800, which can easily allow you to view videos and DVD s with above average clarity. A built-in Intel Graphics media Accelerator X3100 engine, based on PCI Express Technology, is also on hand to boost video output giving it a smoother image and graphics transition. One letdown is the webcam, no it s not because it has poor quality, but because it is non-existent. But for the price you re paying, you can easily just get an external webcam, but then again, that s another thing you have to lug around in your bag. Another letdown for some people would be the 6 cell LI-Ion rechargeable battery that lasts only a maximum 2.5 hours for normal operation.
All in all, the Medion E5211 has lived up o the reputation that Medion has made for its products. It s very remarkable and reliable for a laptop computer that doesn t cost an arm and a leg and very durable too. It s just a shame that the Medion E5211 couldn t squeeze in more battery life to make it truly ideal for portable use. Its design is very simple and depending on the user, this can be seen as elegantly minimalist or it can be perceived as boring. Either way, this is certainly a machine that provides good value for your money considering that it delivers well performance wise and is certainly a good bargain.
