Personal computers and laptops lose momentum: Intel Electronics News

INTEL’s latest report indicate personal computer sales continue to lose momentum, with the microprocessor manufacturer expecting 8 to 10 percent growth in shipments in 2011.

Intel’s processors are used in the majority of the world’s PCs, but the growing segment of mobile devices not using its chips are impacting on its market share and sales of laptops and PCs.

The mobile-focused Atom division experienced a revenue loss of 15 percent.

While Intel had a cloudy forecast for PC sales, the company nevertheless posted better-than-expected quarterly results and revenue forcast.
