Former CEO Myers named SEMI director emeritus

SAN FRANCISCO—The board of directors of fab tool vendor trade group SEMI Wednesday (Jan. 11) named longtime CEO Stanley T. Myers as to the position of director emeritus.

Myers, a SEMI board member for 24 years who served as the group's CEO from 1996 until November 2011, has been involved in the semiconductor industry for more than 50 years, according to SEMI.

"During his long tenure, Stan has been a key figure in the continuous evolution of SEMI to ensure that it fulfilled its mandate to the industry and obligations to its membership," said Doug Neugold, chairman, CEO and president of ATMI and chairman of the SEMI board, in a statement. "We are pleased and fortunate to have Stan in this emeritus role."

Other SEMI emeritus directors include industry luminaries Ed Braun, Joel Elftmann, Ken Levy, James Morgan, Ed Segal, Kenichi Sekiya, Tetsuro Higashi, Shoichiro Yoshida and Arthur Zafiropoulo. SEMI's emeritus director positions are awarded in recognition of outstanding achievements on behalf of the association and the industry, according to SEMI.

Myers announced his retirement last year and was succeeded as SEMI CEO last November by Dennis McGuirk, former president and CEO of IPC—Association Connecting Electronics Industries.
