WEB analytics company StatCounter says global mobile internet usage (excluding tablets) doubled from 4.3 percent in January 2011 to 8.5 percent in January 2012.
Use of mobile devices to access the internet has doubled year on year since 2009, an indication of the very strong trend in consumer electronics with internet connectivity and capabilities.
Global internet usage through mobiles is still under 10 percent, but the sector is showing a very strong pace of growth.
Nokia currently leads in mobile vendors due to its dominance in India. US and UK leader is unsurprisingly Apple, and holds second place. In the UK, RIM is second to Apple.
